Lauren and George’s rustic forest wedding took place in Sedro Wooley, Washington in the Skagit Valley. Their wedding was surrounded by tall trees, a beautiful barn, and filled with so much laughter.

Breathe. Focus. Take the shot. Connect. Quickly string up and then carefully field dress the deer. With precision the blade proceeds down the aisle – dissecting the two rows of ribs. Take a brief moment to close your eyes and hear the sounds of organs as they ceremoniously fall to the ground: the heart, the symbol of love, the lungs…breathless… And because of the care you have taken now there is life sustaining flesh in pristine condition. There is the hide that will provide protection for you and your family against the elements. There are the antlers – the velvet well worn from the playful clashes with other bucks. Those horns can be displayed as a celebration of life and as a symbol – a symbol of the careful hunt yes, but also of the effort and of all that the deer will provide.
